Specifically designed for the Mercedes-Benz vehicles fitted with the chain driven 1.8 | 2.1 CDI diesel engines (engine code pre fix 651). The specially designed cam locking tool can be used on both early and late versions of the 651 Mercedes-Benz engine. These engines are found across the Mercedes-Benz range including as well as in the Jeep and Dodge ranges. NOTE: 829120 supersedes Sonic Equipment kit 829087.

829124 - TIMING CHAIN FITTING BRIDGE - MERCEDEZ BENZ

The Mercedes-Benz M651 1.8 | 2.1 diesel engines can suffer from issues requiring the replacement of the timing chain. The M651 timing chain is at the back of the engine (flywheel end) which makes the replacement of the timing chain difficult. To avoid the need for completely stripping the engine the new chain must be attached to the old chain and “threaded” around the engine sprockets while turning the crankshaft. The 829124 Timing Chain Fitting Bridge helps guide the new chain into position while the old chain is extracted by maintaining the contact of the new chain with the sprocket. Note: the 829124 must be used with the cam locking tools found in 829120 M651 engine timing kits.
